WHAT IS EM?
Our Surroundings are populated with microbes and without them human life would be impossible. Microbes consist of a huge variety of of organisms, the only thing that they have in common is that you need a microscope to see them. In reality approx. 5% of microbes are harmful and 5% advantages to humans, the rest act like spectators cheering for the winning team. This is why you can feel a cold coming on for a few days then one morning you can barely get up. This is when the spectators note that the "harmful team" is winning.
WHY IS EM EFFECTIVE?
Effective Micro-Organisms is a registered trademark registered by Prof. Terua Higa, a Japanese Agriculturalist. After years of research he came to realize that specific micro-organisms are dependent on other micro-organisms to flourish. They create habitats for each other and the ones waste is the others nourishment. In this process they create ideal conditions for Macro Organisms like humans. He discerned around 80 species that were extraordinarily beneficial to a livable and healthy environment.

In addition, earthworms not only ingest partly composted material, but also continually re-create aeration and drainage tunnels as they move through the compost.
A lack of a healthy micro-organism community is the main reason why composting processes are slow in landfills with environmental factors such as lack of oxygen, nutrients or water being the cause of the depleted biological community

- Promotes better smell during the decomposition process in compost/organic waste heaps
- Improved Indigestion and increases feed conversion and general health
- Improves soil structure keeping minerals more readily absorb-able forms reducing leaching.
- Contributes to nutrient intake in plant roots providing organic compounds that assists plants to save energy to enhancing fruit nourishment qualities
- Protects plant leaf against fungus and bacterial infections
- In Healthy environments these microbes are present but today you find minimal environments this healthy
